🌌 What Are Muons?

Muons are basically super-electrons — high-energy particles created when cosmic rays smash into atoms in Earth’s upper atmosphere.

They travel toward Earth at nearly the speed of light.
Given their fleeting lifespan of just 2 millionths of a second, they should decay long before they reach us…and yet — they make it all the way to the surface!

How?
That’s where Einstein’s Theory of Relativity comes in.
At such relativistic speeds, time appears to slow down for the muons, giving them time to complete their incredible journey to Earth.
