An alumina dish is a special type of laboratory dish made from aluminium oxide. It's mainly used to heat chemicals at very high temperatures where glass or porcelain would crack, melt or react.
Why it's useful:

- Chemically stable: doesn't react with most acids, alkalis or molten substances.
